Bihar chief minister Jittan Ram Majhi challenged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sit together with tribal and Mahadalit families and consume their foods like rice and fish if he really wanted to materialise the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to clean the society.
Talking to reporters during his maiden visit to PM's constituency on Wednesday Majhi taunted the clean India campaign of Modi and asked "Jhadu chalane se kya hoga" (What will happen with broom shows only). He said that cleaning of mindset to remove differentiation on caste basis and untouchability is the actual need of hour to make the country clean.
Regarding Bihar politics he said that keeping photograph of unanimously considered leader of Janata Dal (United) and former CM Nitish Kumar in his room should not be taken otherwise. "Nitish is an ideal for us as he has recovered Bihar from utter backwardness and lawlessness", said Majhi adding, "I had never thought to become a public representative but now I am a CM of Bihar. And during very short period of my chief ministership I have drawn many bigger lines than Nitish by introducing many welfare projects."
Reacting over joining hands with same Rashtriya Janata Dal, which was blamed by JDU in past for backwardness and lawlessness in Bihar, he said, "We are not sitting in the lap of anyone." Regarding his own future Majhi said that there is a possibility of formation of an alliance of JDU, RJD and Congress to contest Bihar elections and if the required numbers to form government is gained the legislative party will decide the CM. About the challenge of Modi wave, he said that people have become very matured and they can't be misled with false promises repeatedly hence there is no chance of repetition of Modi's miracle in Bihar.
He however cleared that he had no resources like Bhartiya Janata Party to give hype to his campaigning. Regarding his controversial statement that tribals are only genuine natives of this soil he said that his words were wrongly interpreted as he never aimed at saying others as outsider. He reiterated that by making mockery of his innocence the rivals brightened his prospects due to which he became CM and if they would continue same practices he can become PM of the country someday.
